Maroon Monday: Bulldog pride sweeps Internet

As Mississippi State prepares to take on UCLA in the college baseball national championship, fans from across the state are taking to the Internet to cheer on their Bulldogs.

Beard Power

The Dawgs face the UCLA Bruins tonight at 6:30 PM CST at the College World Series in Omaha, Neb. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.

A series win would be a first for either school.

The hashtag #hailstate is expected to reach trending stage on Twitter as plenty of well-wishes flow in from the Bulldog Nation.

MSU head football coach Dan Mullen: “Let’s go, Diamond Dogs.”

MSU basketball standout Marshall Henderson: “Hail State. Bring it home boys! #SEC.”

Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Johnthan Banks: “I think I may just grow me a beard.”

Speaking of beards, MSU athletic director Scott Stricklin has added a photo-shopped beard to his Twitter profile picture in homage to the Diamond Dawg’ affinity for facial hair.

Meanwhile, graphic design website HalTeasler.com has posted a questionable GIF as its hat tip to the State bullpen.

Instagram is loaded with pictures of fans visiting the T.D. Ameritrade Ball Park in Omaha where tonight’s action will take place. MSU fans that stayed home or had to work came up with other ideas to show their support for the Maroon and White.

Facebook’s recent decision to incorporate hashtags will for sure get a workout tonight as State fans log in and spread the love.

“Let the cowbells ring tonight,” writes Eddie Ray.

“Most exciting Monday I can remember in a longtime,” writes Tony Meyers.

Exciting? Definitely.

Hail State.

  1. I’m not sure what’s “questionable” about Hal Teasler’s graphic…?
