BYRAM — There are 20 names on tomorrow’s ballot for the first municipal election in Mississippi’s newest city. Three of them want to become the first mayor of Byram. There are two at-large candidates for the Board of Alderman, four candidates in Ward 1, three in Ward 6, and two each in Wards 2-5.
The Clarion-Ledger reports Independent Richard White, Democrat Kevin Lavine and Republican Phil Rodgers are running for mayor.
White spent nearly 20 years as a Republican state senator for District 29, has been on the Board of Aldermen for four years and owns Richard’s Front Wheel Drive auto repair and service. Rodgers is manager of Swinging Bridge RV Park. Lavine has 25 years of law enforcement and community service.
