Housing authority looking to cut workweek to four days

LELAND — The director of the South Delta Regional Housing Authority is proposing a four-day workweek for employees.

The Delta Democrat Times reports Patricia Logan presented the idea to SDRHA’s board.

Logan wants to switch the agency’s 30 employees to a 10-hour-a-day, four-day-a-week schedule from the current five eight-hour days. Logan says the agency’s budget has been squeezed by federal spending reductions.

Logan says she’s talked with other housing authorities similar in size to South Delta and learned they have been able to cut expenses by making such a change.

Board member Robert Gray says his concern was that tenants’ needs continue to be addressed.

Logan says there typically are fewer calls from tenants needing assistance Friday through Sunday. She said she would look into that issue further.
