HATTIESBURG — It took close to seven hours to pick a jury to hear testimony in a lawsuit contesting the results of the recent Hattiesburg mayor’s election.
Now it’s on to opening arguments, with the legal team of mayoral candidate Dave Ware to presents its open statement today at the Forrest County Courthouse.
The Hattiesburg American reports Ware is contesting the results of the June 4 mayoral race. Incumbent Johnny DuPree was certified the winner with a 37-vote lead.
Ware contends that the absentee ballots had problems ranging from allegedly improper signatures to ballots that don’t state which election the vote is for.
