Officials eye several potential projects for RESTORE funds

D’IBERVILLE — City officials have identified several projects they want to submit for possible RESTORE Act funding but first will seek public opinion.

The Sun Herald reports the projects will be reviewed during a meeting Thursday at the D’Iberville City Hall before they are given to the Department of Environmental Quality, the agency that will administer RESTORE Act funds.

Some of the projects to be discussed include:

—$8.5 million to create a working waterfront for the seafood industry.

—$12 million for a French Market Meeting Facility.

Jeff Taylor, D’Iberville city planner, says these projects are in various stages of development and stand a good chance of being eligible for funding based on the criteria and recommendations of the GoCoast Advisory Committee.
