JACKSON — Gov. Phil Bryant has appointed Robert “Bob” Q. Whitwell Sr. as chancery court judge in a district that includes Benton, Calhoun, Lafayette, Marshall and Tippah counties.
A vacancy on the bench was created when Judge Edwin H. Roberts Jr. died on July 1.
Whitwell is currently in private practice. He served as municipal court judge in Horn Lake from 1975 to 1985 and was appointed U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Mississippi by Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush.
