Airport gets $4.7M grant from FAA for improvements

GULFPORT — The Gulfport-Biloxi Regional Airport Authority has been awarded a $4.7-million Airport Improvement Program (AIP) grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The grant includes funds for airfield drainage enhancements, airport perimeter fence rehabilitation, taxiway widening and terminal improvements.

FAA Airport Improvement Program funds are derived from user fees and fuel taxes. The funding is designated for capital improvement initiatives in the areas of safety, capacity and noise compatibility.
