With of all of its offerings to tourists, it might seem the city of Natchez just has to sit back and watch the visitors come and spend their money. However, a recent award shows city officials are working hard to make sure those tourists keep coming.
The Natchez Convention and Visitors Bureau has been honored with a tourism research award from the Governor’s Conference on Tourism.
Natchez tourism director Connie Taunton said the Mississippi Tourism Association and the Mississippi Development Authority’s Tourism Division presented the award in recognition of the CVB’s research efforts for the state agencies.
Taunton says the CVB has been gathering information for the state about tourism infrastructure and business.
Taunton tells The Natchez Democrat the goal of the study is to identify the strengths and shortcomings of the CVB and the local tourism industry.
She says the study will also evaluate the local staff.
