GULFPORT — A 27-year-old man accused of trafficking counterfeit designer goods in Gulfport is set to be arraigned in federal court.
Ousainou Mahanera had more than 100 items with counterfeit labels identifying them as products made by Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Burberry and Fendi, said an indictment unsealed after his arrest.
The Sun Herald reports Mahanera will be arraigned today.
Mahanera reportedly was found with the knockoffs on March 8.
Sheila Wilbanks, spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, says Mahanera is from Gambia and was living in New Orleans.
The indictment said the alleged counterfeit items include purses, shoes, belts, wallets and scarves, and 39 empty counterfeit packages.
