BILOXI — The Biloxi City Council has tabled rezoning a possible casino site — for now.
During a public hearing yesterday, land owners who want to see a $200 million casino built on their property west of Interstate 110 envisioned the site as the gateway to the city with a beautiful new casino a bookend to the IP casino resort, creating “twin towers.”
Those who oppose the casino looked at the same property and said they see homes there or a gateway park with bike trails and walking paths.
Councilman Kenny Glavan said the zoning-change request is a big issue, with investment and jobs to consider, but also residents’ concerns.
The Sun Herald reports the council voted 4-3 to table the vote until Oct. 15.
