SOUTHAVEN — Testimony concluded in a civil lawsuit against former Southaven Mayor Greg Davis, but a ruling isn’t likely until next year.
The 47-year-old Davis is being sued by Mississippi Auditor Stacey Pickering for allegedly misusing more than $170,000 in city funds for trips, expensive dinners and clothing.
Davis has repaid $96,000 but still owes Southaven taxpayers $73,915.17, including interest and penalties.
The Commercial Appeal reports yesterday’s testimony marked resumption of a trial that recessed five months ago in Hinds County Chancery Court. Davis, the first witness yesterday, described himself as a workaholic.
Davis served as mayor for 16 years until losing his re-election bid in June.
