School superintendent resigns after administrative leave, police visit

schoolPHILADELPHIA — Dr. Terry Larabee has agreed to resign as superintendent of the Philadelphia Public School District.

The Neshoba Democrat reports that the school board announced Larabee’s resignation in a statement yesterday.

The board says it will pay $100,000 to settle the differences between the parties. It says Larabee is giving up the remainder of his contract, which was in effect until June 30, 2015, as well as any future causes of action.

The board says it and Larabee agreed the school system should go in a different direction.

Larabee was hired on July 1, 2011. Larabee was placed on administrative leave on Sept. 4. Four days earlier on Aug. 31, police went to the Larabee home. No charges were filed and police say it was a personal matter.
