Supervisors OK with regional tourism, but questions remain

PASCAGOULA — Jackson County supervisors say they are sold on a regional concept for attracting visitors to the Coast.

But there are still details to work out about how the Mississippi Gulf Coast Regional Convention & Visitors Bureau will serve the county, how the county will pay and what will be a reasonable contribution.

The Sun Herald reports convention board president Duncan McKenzie met with the Board of Supervisors yesterday to secure a letter that Jackson County acknowledges the operating agreement with the visitors board. McKenzie told county leaders it has until July 2015 to come up with a funding mechanism.
