PASCAGOULA — Former Gov. Haley Barbour was on hand Tuesday for the formal dedication of an $18.9-million workforce development building that will house training programs for hundreds of workers.
The Sun Herald reports the Haley Reeves Barbour Maritime Training Facility will be used by the Ingalls shipyard for its apprentice program.
Barbour said the facility also is a key to training workers in other businesses.
Plumbers, machinists and welders are “people who make our lives work,” Barbour told elected officials, community college leaders and Ingalls staff gathered outside the building.
He called the workers “people who keep our state prosperous.”
