Fair officials mulling a second event to be held in Memphis

SOUTHAVEN — The Mid-South Fair has no plans to move from the Landers Center in Southaven, but officials are exploring the possibility of adding a second fair in Memphis.

The Commercial Appeal reports Michael Doyle, president of the Mid-South Fair board of directors, told the Memphis City Council earlier this week that organizers want the fair back in the city it called home until moving to DeSoto County several years ago.

Doyle said yesterday he did not mean the fair was going to leave North Mississippi, where it has been held since landing in DeSoto County in 2009.

Instead, he said he meant that the fair is looking to possibly host two events, one in Memphis and one in DeSoto County.
