MDOT warning of possible traffic snarls from wide-load move

If you’re traveling South Mississippi highways over the next several days, you might want to leave a little early.

The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) has issued a wide load permit to James Machine Works. The company is moving 12 wide loads along a designated route from Natchez to the Chevron plant in Pascagoula.

Each load will be 21 feet wide and 75 feet long.

The tentative route is as follows: the Louisiana State line at Natchez on Highway 84, Highway 49, Interstate 59, Highway 98, Highway 63, Chevron Plant on Highway 611.

The wide loads will be moved over several days beginning today. MDOT will continue to send out updates on the wide load move via Facebook and Twitter @MississippiDOT.
