USM’s Rodney Bennett honored in Ebony’s Power 100

University of Southern Mississippi President Rodney D. Bennett joins an illustrious group of honorees named recently to EBONY’s annual Power 100 list of the nation’s most influential African-Americans. The Power 100 list is divided into 14 categories of recognition. Bennett is included among “The Firsts” for becoming the first African-American to lead Southern Miss or any of the state’s historically white institutions of higher learning.

A Tennessee native, Bennett became the 10th president at Southern Miss on April 1 of this year. He came to Southern Miss from the University of Georgia where he served as vice president for student affairs.
