SoilTech Consultants opens office in West Point

soiltechRIDGELAND, Mississippi — SoilTech Consultants, a geotechnical engineering firm that uses state-of-the-art equipment to provide quality geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing, has opened a new office in West Point, Miss.

It is the fourth Mississippi office for SoilTech, a subsidiary of Neel-Schaffer, Inc. In addition to its headquarters office in Ridgeland, SoilTech also has offices in Long Beach and McComb.

The West Point office is in the former Cadence Bank building at 1120 E. Main St. The location is near the site of the Yokohama Rubber Company plant under construction in Clay County. SoilTech has been testing nearly daily at the site, working on the $330 million first phase of a four-phase project. Yokohama is building a 5 million square-foot tire manufacturing plant, with the first phase (1 million square-feet) scheduled to open in 2015.

Firm President Michael Volk said opening an office in West Point will help SoilTech grow in the Golden Triangle area. The West Point office will be staffed and equipped to handle more work from the northern counties of Mississippi with quick, reliable and thorough testing and analysis capabilities.
