Things are happening so quickly at Trade League Mississippi Central Europe Inc. that it is accelerating its plans to introduce new products. The international venture opened its Atlantic Marksmen unit in Gulfport late last year and now it is adding a custom gun line to its ammunition manufacturing and distribution business.
“We started to accept the first purchase orders for our custom made Atlantic Marksmen precision rifles for hunting and competition or tactical long-range shooting,” said Olivier Scherlofsky, president of TLMCE. The rifles range from $3,000 to $6,000. A Mississippi doctor paid $6,000 up front for the first one. “It’s perfect synergy: precision rifles and ammo,” he said. “There really is a demand.”
Don Geraci of Louisiana, a Hall of Fame and world champion shooter, is the head gunsmith.
“He is one of the most respected precision rifle gunsmiths in the South, and we are very happy that he decided to join our efforts,” Scherlofsky said. “With his help we are able to guarantee the extraordinary accuracy and reliability of the rifles.”
The rifles come with accuracy guarantees and will be delivered in about six weeks or less, thanks to the company’s set-up and components supply infrastructure. “This is a huge advantage in a market where customers have to wait for months or even years to get such quality custom made rifles delivered.”
Owners also can upgrade their existing rifles with better triggers, stocks or barrels.
Scherlofsky and partner Ricky Bishop, owner of Specialty Machine, are already building up the Gulf Coast hub for Lapua, Atlantic Marksmen’s flagship brand of high-end ammo produced in Finland and Germany. Several local shops and ranges have started to stock Lapua products, he said.
Beginning in March the company will introduce its own Mississippi-manufactured premium pistol and rifle rounds. “In the next weeks we will start to offer our precision ammo to shops and wholesalers through the U.S.,” Scherlofsky said. The rounds will be sold to shops as well as online.
Some of the rifle ammo will be hand loaded specially for match and law enforcement shooters.
Another new product entering the market next month is a 9mm premium pistol ammo line designed for use in Glock, Steyr and other prized pistols from Austria and Germany. “Those pistols are highly popular in the with police as well as citizens,” he said.
Also starting in March, the 9mm pistol ammo will be included in special promotion kits for Glock pistols that will sell for $80 to $150 at select shops and include Glock accessories.
Scherlofsky said Atlantic Marksmen will offer factory reloading of the Atlantic Marksmen rounds for half the cost of the new ammo. The Lapua brass rounds can be reloaded several times without any loss of reliability or functionality, he said.
Gunsmith Geraci isn’t the only big name in the gun world who will be marketing Atlantic Marksmen. The company will sponsor the cable TV shooting shows featuring Jim and Melissa Gilliland and is also creating a channel on Trigger Time TV that is run by Gautier resident Troy Allan Guillotte.
Scherlofsky said all of the expansion activity and new products will create jobs.
“We started to cooperate with a Mississippi packaging company for our packaging, helping them to keep and increase jobs in Mississippi,” he said. “And, utilizing our European firearms background, once we have our U.S. export licenses we will help companies marketing and exporting their first class products to U.S. allies in the European Union.”
