Entergy increases availability of incentives for small businesses

EntergyJACKSON — Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley says that in response to his request, Entergy Mississippi will expand the availability of its Small Business Incentive Program.

Entergy filed to amend the incentive program, which lowers the electricity costs borne by small business through a package reduced rates and fees, by removing a requirement that the business be located in a building which had been unoccupied for the preceding six months. The revisions will expand availability to many businesses that would not have previously qualified, according to Presley.

The new criteria are expected to go into effect in April.

Presley conceived of the idea of small business incentive packages in 2011, requesting proposals from all of Mississippi’s major electric and natural gas utilities.
