Cooper plant earns entry into MDEQ's enHance program

CLARKSDALE — Cooper Tire’s Clarksdale plant was recently accepted into the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality’s (MDEQ) enHance program as a steward.

The plant was accepted based on its record of landfill and energy usage reductions. Cooper’s Tupelo plant was similarly recognized in 2011.

The enHance voluntary stewardship program, which stands for “envision heightened awareness nurturing conservation and environmental excellence,” recognizes committed environmental leaders in Mississippi who accomplish environmental initiatives beyond those legally required. The program is designed to encourage the reduction of waste and conservation of resources, resulting in long term economic benefits and continuous environmental enhancement. Participating organizations demonstrate a record of, and make a commitment to, achieving environmental improvements.

  1. I once bought a set of 6 Cooper tires. 5 of them separated or exploded during the first half of their tread life.
