PERKINSTON — A recent study found that Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is the state leader in workforce training and is responsible for more than 75 percent of all workforce development within its four-county district.
These results are part of the data released in MGCCC’s Economic Impact Report, which outlines the college’s partnerships with industry, government and public entities to expand employment opportunities for residents in its district and statewide.
Dr. Mary S. Graham, MGCCC president, said that the college’s growing workforce development programs and industry partnerships are part of its Strategic Plan 2020. “A key commitment within our strategic plan is community engagement and partnerships because we recognize that a strong economy is based on meeting the employment needs of existing and potential business and industry. Through partnerships with government, economic development entities and industry in our district, we can provide training as the vehicle for growth in South Mississippi.”
