Nissan settles with pro-union employee

CANTON — Nissan Motor Co. says it has settled an unfair labor practice charge with a pro-union worker at its assembly plant in Canton. Bryant signs controversial religious-freedom bill

JACKSON — Gov. Phil Bryant signed a bill yesterday that supporters say will assure unfettered practice of religion without government interference but that opponents worry could lead to state-sanctioned discrimination against gays and lesbians. Pickering returns funds to city, fire department

BATESVILLE — State Auditor Stacey Pickering has returned $30,000 in recovered funds to two agencies in Panola County. The city of Sardis received $21,204 following the investigation of former city clerk Odessa Johnson. Pickering says Johnson embezzled $28,033 from the city from January 2006 through April 2009.
