LONG BEACH, Mississippi — Magnolia Business Alliance member, Operation PROP (People Reaching Outrageous Potential) is headed to the Stennis International Airport on May 17 to kick off its first flying event which empowers people with disabilities, as well as wounded military personnel, to achieve outrageous potential. Operation PROP believes that the joy of flight can inspire people to do things they never thought possible.
The gathering of volunteer pilots will be offering people with disabilities, from all ages and backgrounds, the opportunity to break the bonds of earth and experience the joy of flight. There will be pilots, planes, skydivers, food, beverages, crafts, activities and much more at the event.
“Supporting events and causes such as Operation PROP in our community are vital in giving back and educating those with or without disabilities that there are possibilities in aviation for them,” said Craig Harvey, an MBA founder. “We welcome them to the coast and look forward to many more events.”
Linwood Nooe, president/founder of the event, strives to give a taste of the freedom of flight to those interested. Another goal of Nooe’s is to help people realize that not all disabilities prevent a hobby or career in aviation.
More than 150 people are expected to enjoy a flight that day and the event will have the support and volunteers of upwards of 100 people. The different parties involved include the Mississippi Guard, Rolling Tigers Wheelchair Basketball Team, Lowe’s Home Improvement, Michael’s Arts & Crafts, The Ninety-Nines Int’l Organization of Women Pilots and many more.
