Grenada native Donna Tartt wins Pulitzer Prize for 'The Goldfinch'

goldfinchGrenada native Donna Tartt’s sprawling literary epic that centers on a mysterious little painting has taken the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for fiction, besting other lengthy titles, such as The Son by Phillipp Meyer and The Woman Who Lost Her Soul by Bob Sacochis, both of which received “A” grades from EW.

Tartt adds to the long list of Mississippians who have won the Pulitzer Prize.

The Goldfinch, Tartt’s first novel in more than a decade, was clearly worth the wait. It not only won critical raves but has become a bona fide commercial best-seller. A film version produced by Nina Jacobson (The Hunger Games) is in the works.
