GREENVILLE — A federal appeals court has upheld the conviction of a former executive director of the South Delta Regional Housing Authority and her 32-month prison sentence.
The ruling was issued yesterday by a three-judge panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans.
Ann Jefferson was convicted in 2012 in federal court in Aberdeen of embezzlement, obstruction of justice and witness intimidation. She was ordered to pay more than $41,000 in restitution.
Prosecutors say Jefferson converted money from several housing authority accounts to her own use. She also was accused of retaliating against three witnesses.
Jefferson also was ordered to serve three years of supervised probation.
The 5th Circuit panel found the evidence against Jefferson was overwhelming.
