The Massachusetts Gaming Commission voted unanimously today to issue the state’s first casino operators license to MGM, which plans to build an $800 million casino, hotel, and entertainment and shopping complex in downtown Springfield.
MGM also owns the Beau Rivage in Biloxi and the the Gold Strike in Tunica Resorts.
Now, concerned parties must wait for the state’s Supreme Judicial Court to decide if it will allow a referendum to overturn the state’s casino law. Recent polls have suggested a vote might overturn the gaming law.
