JACKSON — Entergy Corp. officials tell The Associated Press they will ask Mississippi regulators to overhaul the power provider’s entire rate structure in a proposal that would generated an estimated $49 million increase in annual revenue.

The rate overhaul would be the company’s first in 12 years.

Entergy Mississippi CEO Haley Fisackerly tells The Associated Press that rates would rise by less than $1 a month in January for a typical residential customer, after a fuel surcharge expires in December.

The company made the rate request today to the state Public Service Commission, which must approve the proposal.

Under the plan, Entergy says it would build three solar energy projects to offer “green” power to customers.

New Orleans-based Entergy serves 441,000 customers in 45 Mississippi counties.
