Jackson has been ranked the fourth worst city for families according to a study done by the website wallethub.com. The city received a ranking of 147th out of the 150 largest cities in the United States. Birmingham, Ala., was ranked 148, Miami ranked 149 and Detroit received the worst ranking at 150.
The website compared the cities based on 31 categories, including education and child care, affordability, socioeconomic environment, family activities and health and safety.
Jackson’s ranked 144 out of 150 for education, 134 for its socioeconomic environment, 129 for affordability and 128 for health and safety.
The city’s highest ranking of 77 fell under family activities and fun.
The top three on the list are Plano, Texas, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Overland Park, Kan.
