Oxford looking to develop campus-like 'clean industry'

Commercial Building ConstructionOXFORD — City of Oxford leaders say they hope a proposed new planning district will help the area attract high-tech companies and research firms.

City Planner Andrea Correll tells The Oxford Eagle that Oxford is trying to promote “clean industry.”

Correll says she is working with representatives from FNC Inc. and Oxford Enterprise to develop aesthetic standards for a business district that would create campus-like work environments.

A proposal says buildings in the district could be no more than 45 feet tall and that each lot would have to be at least 3.5 acres.

The Board of Alderman is planning a public hearing about the proposal on Tuesday.
