Singing River officially opens new Northwest Tower

HospitalOCEAN SPRINGS — Singing River Health System (SRHS) recently celebrated the newest addition to its facilities with a building dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new Northwest Tower at Ocean Springs Hospital.

The $16.5 million, 88,000-square-foot facility is home to the surgical pre-op and post-op care areas for same day surgery, the Congestive Heart Failure Clinic and a new patient unit for surgical/ortho/neuro patients on the second floor. It also features the addition of 20 beds to the hospital. A third floor was built, but is currently empty, to allow room for future expansion needs at the hospital.

“This is an expansion that has been needed for quite some time due to our capacity constraints at Ocean Springs Hospital,” said Kevin Holland, Singing River Health System Chief Executive Officer. “Adding this additional capacity will allow us to meet the community demand that exists for our inpatient services and our surgical services. Convenience, flow and efficiency will all be enhanced for the patient experience, which is very exciting to us.”

Construction began on the three-story building in early 2012, and was completed by a combination of local Mississippi and Alabama contractors including T.L. Wallace, Ray Weaver, Bagby and Russell, Saucier Brothers and Fletcher Construction.
