HATTIESBURG — The South Mississippi Home Health Foundation and Deaconess HomeCare and Hospice employees have given $200,000 to help build an inpatient hospice in Hattiesburg.
The Forrest General Healthcare Foundation announced the gift Monday to its Asbury Hospice House.
Bill Oliver, president of the Forrest General Foundation, says $4.8 million of the $5 million goal for the hospice has now been raised.
Scheduled to open in late 2015, the Asbury Hospice House will be able to serve 12 patients with around-the-clock hospice care.
Deaconess succeeded South Mississippi Home Health. That foundation, created in 1987, is funded by donations from Deaconess employees in Mississippi and by investment income.
