JACKSON — The Nielsen ratings for July are in, and WAPT has taken over at the top overall for newscasts.
The Nielsen ratings win compares all the weekday newscasts head-to-head including 5-7am, 5pm, 6pm and 10pm.
WAPT General Manger Stuart Kellogg says, “Our brand at 16 WAPT is The One To Watch. And this certainly validates that, especially after winning so many time periods in May too.”
The record ratings in July mark a new high for a station that has grown steadily in recent years.
WAPT NEWS Director Ben Hart says, “It’s a team win. From the producers and photographers all the way to our main anchor team of Stephanie, Megan, David and Aslan, it’s a team effort. We’re very proud and very thankful to our viewers.”
WAPT NEWS has made their own headlines several times in 2014, including the hire of local news icon Bert Case and several stories that have gained national attention like the Butt Injection trial, the disappearance of Myra Lewis, and the so-call KFC hoax involving a young dog attack victim.
