The Oaks House Museum has hired Beth Batton as executive director. Batton also is a part-time curator and research fellow at the Mississippi Museum of Art, where she has worked for nine years. At the Mississippi Museum of Art, she directed “Unburied Treasures,” that received a special achievement award from the Mississippi Humanities Council. Before her tenure at the Museum of Art, she was the arts-based community development director for the Mississippi Arts Commission.
A native of Port Gibson, Batton holds a B.A. in fine arts from the University of the South, Sewanee.
