Ex-MDEQ leader Fisher joins Butler Snow

butler snowRIDGELAND — Trudy D. Fisher, the former executive director for the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, has joined the Butler Snow law firm.

Donald Clark Jr., chairman of Butler Snow, says in a news release that Fisher will focus on environmental, energy, regulatory, and government relations matters, including permitting and compliance issues around air, water, mining and wetlands.

Fisher, who led the state’s environmental agency for seven years, has been deeply involved in Mississippi’s recovery efforts following the 2010 BP PLC Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Before that she practiced environmental and regulatory law for more than 20 years.

Fisher holds bachelor’s degrees from the Mississippi University for Women in political science and business administration. She earned her law degree from the University of Mississippi.
