Baptist Golden Triangle approved for renovations

HospitalCOLUMBUS — Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle has won state approval for part of a planned overhaul.

The Mississippi State Department of Health said in a news release that it has approved a certificate of need allowing the Columbus hospital to move its pharmacy, enlarge an existing operating room and build space for a satellite pharmacy in its surgical department.

The department did not approve the hospital’s request to add two new surgical suites.

The project is projected to cost nearly $9 million.

Mississippi requires a certificate in a process designed to avoid duplication of health care services and control costs.

The 328-bed hospital is part of the Memphis-based Baptist system, which also includes Mississippi hospitals in Booneville, New Albany, Oxford and Southaven.
