COLUMBUS — The Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle in Columbus has been given state approval to enlarge one operating room and replace two smaller operating rooms.
The plan also is to relocate the hospital’s inpatient pharmacy.
The Mississippi State Department of Health recently issued a certificate of need for the project. Mississippi requires a CON in a process designed to avoid duplication of health care services and control costs.
Health officials did not approve a request to add two new surgical suites.
Work is scheduled to begin early next year.
The project will cost $8.9 million.
Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle employs about 1,000 people and has 315 inpatient beds.
The hospital is part of the Memphis-based Baptist system, which also includes Mississippi hospitals in Booneville, New Albany, Oxford and Southaven.
