JACKSON — Mississippi Republican Sen. Roger Wicker has retained his seniority positions on the Senate Armed Service and Commerce Committee.
Wicker’s office says in a news release that the senator will also serve on the Budget Committee; the Environment and Public Works Committee; and the Rules Committee.
The EPW Committee oversees a broad range of issues, including oversight of the Environmental Protection Agency.
Wicker is the second ranked Republican on the Commerce Committee. It works on issues related to telecommunications, highways, ports, aviation, NASA, the Coast Guard, and oceans and fisheries.
The Budget Committee is in charge of the blueprint for federal spending, and Wicker has used his seat on the committee to advocate fiscal restraint.
The Rules Committee oversees Senate rules and regulations, as well as federal elections.
