Former Biloxi casino employee charged with embezzlement

BILOXI — Police say a former employee at the Imperial Palace Casino has been arrested after casino representatives accused her of embezzling casino funds.

Biloxi Police Investigator Grandver Everett tells The Sun Herald a casino representative called police on Oct. 15, 2014, about Brittany Nicole Blackwelder allegedly embezzling money.

Everett says an investigation revealed Blackwelder developed a process that gave her access to certain guest promotional deals and used her access to take near $18,000.

Judge Albert Fountain issued an arrest warrant with a $25,000 bond and Blackwelder was arrested Monday.

Jail officials couldn’t provide the name of a defense attorney to comment on the charges.
