Harrell to lead division

Jonathan Harrell has been selected chief of the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District’s Natural Resources and Environmental Compliance Section of Operations Division.

Harrell will be responsible for the oversight of the natural resource and environmental compliance programs throughout the Vicksburg District.  This includes providing technical support to the eight field offices, oversight of mitigation land management, as well as providing in-house technical expertise in the fields of natural resource management and environmental compliance.

Prior to this selection, Harrell has served as the district forester.  In this position, Harrell was responsible for the oversight of the forestry program within the Vicksburg District as well as the oversight of about 55,000 acres of mitigation lands.

A native of Aberdeen, now livng in Raymond, Harrell earned his Bachelor’s Degree in forestry with a Wildlife Management Option from Mississippi State University. He is a registered forester in the state of Mississippi.  Harrell is an active leader in Raymond Boy Scout Troop 92 and a member of Hinds Independent Methodist Church of Raymond.

He is married to the former Staci Slayton of Enterprise, and they have a son and a daughter.
