|The Mississippi Home Corp. has been designated as the lead agency for federal housing programs administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. This action will result in two bureaus in Mississippi Development Authority that administer housing grants moving to the Mississippi Home Corp. as of July 1, 2015.MDA Executive Director Brent Christensen said in a prepared statement: “I have every confidence that our outstanding employees will do wonderful things with their new colleagues at Mississippi Home Corp.”
“Designating one entity to coordinate all federal housing activities for the state will lead to more efficiency in the delivery of this important assistance and will benefit the state’s residents and communities,” said Mississippi Home Corporation Executive Director Scott Spivey.
Seven MDA employees will be offered the opportunity to transfer to the Mississippi Home Corp. MDA will continue to administer the HUD funded Community Development Block Grant Program in the state.
Established by the state Legislature in 1989, MHC’s mission is to enhance Mississippi’s long-term economic viability by financing safe, decent, affordable housing and helping working families build wealth.
