BILOXI — Biloxi Mayor-elect Andrew Gilich has named F. Cliff Kirkland to head his transition team.
Vincent Creel, Biloxi public affairs manager, tells The Sun Herald Gilich likely will be sworn in next week. His public inauguration will be at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Biloxi Civic Center.
The Biloxi Election Commission certified the election late Tuesday night. Gilich received 4,347 votes to Winfield Swetman’s 2,933.
The Biloxi council recently hired Kirkland, a consultant who specializes in government affairs, development, marketing and public relations, as a consultant to plan and produce special events in the new MGM Park.
Councilman Kenny Glavan says Kirkland’s job as transition manager is strictly a volunteer position.
