Newk’s Eatery named to QSR Magazine’s top franchise deals

QSR Magazine has named Newk’s Eatery, the fast casual restaurant known for its culinary-driven menu and open kitchens, a top pick for franchisees looking for concepts that deliver a “mutually beneficial relationship.”

Fast-growing Newk’s, with more than 80 locations throughout the South and Southeast, was one of 12 concepts recognized by the respected restaurant trade publication. QSR called Newk’s a “rising star,” with a strong sales-to-investment ratio and average unit volumes of $2.4 million.

The magazine also noted that Newk’s scratch-made kitchen and culinary-driven menu fit franchisees’ desire for products that are “rich and differentiated,” while its unit economics deliver “bottom-line earning potential.”

“Newk’s continues to expand corporate operations and support for individual franchisees,” said Newk’s President/CEO and co-founder Chris Newcomb. “That support, coupled with very strong unit economics and high brand awareness, is a winning combination for franchisees looking to grow their portfolios.”

The “next generation fast casual chain” continues to actively pursue new franchisees and expand throughout the country. Thus far in 2015, four new franchisees have joined the growing chain, adding commitments to open 33 new locations in FloridaTexasSouth Carolina and Louisiana.

Newk’s will continue to open corporate-owned locations and plans to exceed 200 units by 2018, with approximately 80 percent franchised.

“We believe there is no better place to invest than in building more Newk’s,” said Newcomb.

In addition to its nod from QSR, Newk’s was recently named one of the industry’s most significant brands by Fastcasual.com and is among the nation’s top 50 U.S. fast casual chains, according to Technomic.
