A Pearl River Community College alumnus has been named the college’s vice president for Forrest County operations. Dr. Jana Causey of Petal moved into the job on July 1 after two years as assistant vice president.
She succeeds Dr. Cecil Burt who retired after 43 years, most of them as the college’s top Forrest County administrator.
Causey has worked at PRCC’s Forrest County Center for 10 years. She served as assistant vice president for the past two years.
Causey received the associate’s degree from PRCC in 1999. She played on the Lady Wildcat basketball and softball teams and was elected homecoming queen and a class favorite. She holds the bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biochemistry from the University of Southern Mississippi and received the PhD in higher education administration from USM in 2014.
She has served on the Petal Children’s Taskforce board for 13 years and is a member of Delta Kappa Gamma society for women educators. She teaches a college Sunday school class at Carterville Baptist Church and coaches youth basketball and t-ball.
Causey and her husband, Chris, have two children: Eli, 8, and Kate, 5.
