F. Clarke Holmes, the Central Mississippi Planning and Development District’s chief executive officer has retired and replaced by Mike Monk, previously the director of planning and management.
Holmes led the organization for 44 years. When he first became director he was the youngest in the country to hold such a position. Under his leadership, CMPDD grew from a small insignificant organization to be nationally recognized for its accomplishments. Holmes was active at the national level in writing legislation which helped bring about regional initiatives and throughout his career served on numerous boards and commissions in positions of leadership.
Monk has extensive experience in comprehensive planning, regional transportation, planning and management, and all types of community and economic development financing. Monk holds a degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Southern Mississippi and 23 years of work experience with CMPDD.
CMPDD is a non-profit corporation concerned with meeting the changing needs of Central Mississippi. CMPDD promotes area-wide progress through regional planning and development concepts in areas such as planning, government management, and human resource coordination.
