Economic opportunity can change lives. Promoting Mississippi’s advantages to attract new career opportunities while supporting the expansion of our existing businesses is our primary mission at the Mississippi Development Authority.

Three key principles guide us and help ensure Mississippi will continue to cultivate economic opportunities for Mississippi families. First, teamwork is essential to winning new investment projects and helping our existing industries meet their expansion needs. Second, Mississippi provides one of the best business climates in the nation. We will continue to build upon this asset and remain persistent in promoting the state’s distinct business advantages on a global scale. Third, MDA is firmly committed to the immediate and long-term success of its recruiting efforts to bring more industries to Mississippi.

In sports, winning teams are usually the ones that play best together. The same holds true in economic development. MDA relies on true teamwork to win new projects. Mississippi’s network of 15 community colleges and research universities work hand-in-hand with our corporate partners to meet their workforce training needs today and in the future. Likewise, MDA collaborates with our local, regional and state economic development organizations, as well as with leaders at each level of government. This unified, committed network of partners working toward a common goal makes the Mississippi team a tough one to beat.

Teamwork is why Mississippi ranks nationally as one of the top states for doing business. Efficient permitting speed, low overall cost of doing business, proven infrastructure, an available and productive workforce, abundant, affordable energy, and low corporate taxes are just some of the many factors contributing to the state’s consistently high business rankings. It is no coincidence global brands like Nissan, Toyota, Rolls-Royce and Williams-Sonoma, just to name a few, as well as homegrown, family-owned small and mid-sized businesses call Mississippi home. These companies are on the winning team, benefitting from Mississippi‘s competitive business environment.

This long list of business advantages and success stories illustrate the strong level of commitment from leaders throughout the state who are working to cultivate economic opportunities for Mississippians. The MDA team is dedicated to ensuring the state’s economic development partners have the tools needed for sustainable success and growth. Gov. Phil Bryant, our Legislature and local elected leaders remain committed to consistently improving the quality of life in Mississippi while continuing to sharpen and strengthen the state’s pro-business environment.  As one team, we will be purposeful in our recruiting efforts and steadfast in this collaborative economic growth strategy.

As a life-long Mississippian, I know firsthand the tremendous quality of life and high value proposition our state offers. My job is to ensure we tell Mississippi’s story across the globe with the goal of strengthening our economy. Our story is compelling, and our state’s best days are ahead. I am energized to lead the MDA team of dedicated team players as we compete to win more projects, bringing new career opportunities and economic prosperity to Mississippi’s families.
