Chris Champion has joined Cornerstone Government Affairs as vice president of its Jackson office.
Champion, a native of Greenwood, has held the position of policy director for Gov. Phil Bryant, where he oversaw the Governor’s legislative agenda and advised him on state and federal issues. He also acted as the Governor’s designee to the Tennessee Valley Authority Regional Energy Resource Council, Delta Regional Authority, Appalachian Regional Commission, and the Southern States Energy Board. Prior to becoming the policy director, Chris’s portfolio included advising the governor on energy, transportation, agriculture, environment, marine resources, and fish and wildlife related issues.
Before joining Governor Bryant’s staff in 2012, Chris worked as a special assistant to United States Sen. Roger Wicker in Washington. A graduate of the University of Mississippi, Chris was employed in the risk management industry in Birmingham, Ala., before joining Wicker’s staff.
