U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center, Coastal Hydraulics Laboratory Director José E. Sánchez was recently appointed to serve as the alternate U.S. representative to the World Association for Waterborne Transportation Infrastructure Inland Navigation Commission. The appointment is for a four-year term.
Sánchez, a native of Puerto Rico and graduate of the University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez, began his ERDC career in 1995 as a research hydraulic engineer. In August 2013, Sánchez was promoted to the Senior Executive Service and appointed as director.
As a representative, Sánchez will attend meetings of the technical commission and send summary reports of PIANC action items, recommend subjects for study by working groups and international study commissions and consult with other technical commission representatives.
