Matthew P. McLaughlin of Baker Donelson has been selected for an advisory panel — the first of its kind — to grow the Mississippi Creative Economy. The advisory panel will help guide Visit Mississippi’s Bureau of Creative Economy & Culture’s strategic planning and resources, which are designed to enhance and expand the state’s creative sector.
McLaughlin, who chairs Baker Donelson’s craft brewery and craft distillery industry focus team, has extensive expertise working with regional craft breweries and craft distilleries in all aspects of their operations. He advises industry participants on business entity formation, ownership structure and start-up financing and expansion financing, and files and registers trademarks and protects all forms of intellectual property. McLaughlin is outside general counsel to the Mississippi Brewer’s Guild and consults with other trade associations and guilds on economic development incentives and legislative and policy matters that impact the alcohol industry. He was a significant contributor to the Mississippi Brewers Guild Project: Legislation Review, Benchmarking and Economic Impact Study (Fall/Winter 2014). He also advises clients on federal, state and local economic development incentives and non-traditional sources of capital, namely in the areas of energy, technology, manufacturing, affordable housing, historic preservation and community development.
McLaughlin is one of 23 creative professionals, community leaders and economic developers from across the state selected for this advisory panel.
