Clay Chandler will become communications director for Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant at the end of the month.

He will succeed Nicole Webb. She and her husband, Kevin, are returning to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and she plans to focus mainly on raising their two children.

Chandler, a northeast Mississippi native, begins the job Nov. 30.

Since 2004, he has worked as a journalist at the Yazoo Herald, the Mississippi Business Journal and The Clarion-Ledger. He has covered legislative sessions and elections since 2008.

Webb has been part of Bryant’s communications staff since he was elected governor in 2011.
